EDU 4397 - Residency II 3 Credits
This course is completed after Teacher Residency I in the final year of the professional development program required forTexas teacher certification. Throughout the placement, students will engage in an examination and analysis of teachingpractices and professional expectations. The student must demonstrate proficiency in effective instructional design anddelivery, classroom management, professional communication, and ongoing professional development. At the end of theTeacher Residency II semester, the teacher resident, host teacher, campus administrator, and university supervisorparticipate in a four‐way summative conference to evaluate the teacher resident’s progress toward meeting the residencyrequirements as determined by the Texas Education Agency. The teacher resident must receive recommendations fromthe host teacher, campus administrator, and university supervisor to successfully complete this course and berecommended for the enhanced standard certificate. The recommendations will be noted on the summative evaluationand will be reflected in the grade assignments (grades of B or higher indicate recommendation; lower grades indicate therecommendation was not granted). The residency documents, including the summative assessment with grades noted bythe host teacher, campus administrator, and university supervisor, are reviewed by the Texas Wesleyan Director of Field Experience, who makes the final grade assignment.
